How We Started
What began as a simple family hobby—enjoying horseback rides in local parks—blossomed into a business on a sunny summer day. As the horses rested, a park-goer approached Doug and asked, “How much do you charge?” If you know Doug, it won’t surprise you that the rest of the family was certain they’d be hiking back to the trailer instead of riding! That casual question, however, sparked an idea. Over the winter, Rachel spent countless hours on paperwork and logistics, and by June 2010, we were leading our very first official tour.
Since then, both our family and our company have evolved. We added carriage tours to make our offerings more inclusive for Gettysburg’s visitors; then followed with walking tours and car tours. Most recently, we introduced Segways for guests who crave a bit more adventure. While the business now includes a team of dedicated employees, you’ll still find us out on the battlefield, sharing stories and our passion for horses and history.
To all our longtime guests and those joining us for the first time: thank you for allowing us to share our love of Horses and Gettysburg with you. We look forward to many more years of making memories together.
